Available technologies

Get a glimpse of the future with our featured technologies. We are looking for enthusiastic and entrepreneurial people to pick up of these challenges

Integrated Fiber Sensing – By PhotonFirst

Smart photonic sensing for high-precision measurements

PhotonFirst has been developing photonic chip sensing for over a decade, enabling ultra-accurate strain, temperature, vibration, and pressure sensing through optical fiber systems. Their interrogator technology consolidates multiple electronic components onto a single photonic chip, allowing a single fiber to carry hundreds of sensors over long distances.

Who we are looking for: Co-founders with a background in mechatronics, optics, or application engineering, as well as business developers passionate about scaling photonic sensing solutions.

AutomatED – By University of Antwerp

High-throughput automatic analysis of nano-objects using electron microscopes

Developed at the University of Antwerp, AutomatED bridges the gap between SEM, TEM, and XRD techniques, providing an affordable and efficient way to analyze nanoparticles and 2D materials. The integrated add-on device enhances SEM setups, automating experiments and data processing with custom software.

Who we are looking for: We seek entrepreneurs with experience in SEM/TEM sales or related fields to bring this technology to market.

Electronic Noses – By Researchers

imitating Olfactory Receptors

These technology allow to detect information about odors by using a flow cell and reader. These volatile organic compounds are common but very difficult to detect by humans, this technology is allowing to detect VOCs in a very precise way compared to humans, bees and dogs.

Who we are looking for: an  innovative mindset and a background in physics, biomedical and mechanical engineering.

Highly Efficient Self-cleaning Coatings –  By University of Antwerp

Based on photo-catalytic materials

Developed at Antwerp University, this innovative photocatalytic self-cleaning coating utilizes a broader spectrum of sunlight, significantly increasing efficiency compared to traditional coatings. By embedding nanoparticles, the coating enhances photochemical performance, making it ideal for applications like solar panels, greenhouses, and smart windows. Laboratory tests following ISO standards show promising results for both efficacy and long-term durability.

Who we are looking for: Co-founders with a passion for coatings, and business development. An educational background in chemistry, physics or chemical engineering is desired for this role.

Redox Flow Batteries –  By Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH

Based on organic redox-active species in organic solvents

Developed using a new class of patented redox-active species based on Ketazine derivatives, this innovative redox flow battery technology offers a cost-effective and scalable solution for stationary energy storage. The material’s simple synthesis and affordable raw materials enable high redox potentials, excellent reversibility, low crossover tendency, and enhanced solubility, leading to superior long-term stability. These advantages make it ideal for applications such as solar farms, industrial zones, and the built environment, addressing key challenges in renewable energy storage and grid congestion.

Who we are looking for: Co-founders passionate about sustainable battery solutions. A background in chemistry, mechanical or (electro)chemical engineering is preferred.
